Welcome to the YEAR BOOK OF CRITICAL CARE MEDICINE for 2013! Dr David J. Dries from Surgery at Regions Hospital and the University of Minnesota along with Dr Sergio L. Zanotti-Cavazzoni from the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and Cooper University Hospital have placed greater emphasis on the ongoing submission of abstracts for the YEAR BOOK during the past year. If you follow YEAR BOOK abstracts online in Critical Care Medicine, you will see that approximately half of the abstracts were submitted prior to the close of the publishing year. This way, we hope to keep the most current information before our readers.
We again thank the other senior members of the editorial team. Dr Barbara Latenser from the University of Iowa continues to provide abstract review in burn care. Dr Elizabeth Martinez from the Massachusetts General Hospital reviews in perioperative care and anesthesiology, while Dr Michael Zwank of the University of Minnesota and Regions Hospital reviews emergency medicine management for a variety of problems. Dr Fred Rincon of Thomas Jefferson University adds the dimension of neurologic critical care.
As always, editors and associate editors receive invaluable input from other authorities serving as guest editors for this edition.
In addition, there are several key individuals participating in facilitating our editorial work. Ms Toni Piper at Cooper University Hospital continues as a key editorial resource for the YEAR BOOK OF CRITICAL CARE MEDICINE. Mrs Sherry Willett at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota has joined her and is doing a large part of the essential editing. Mr Patrick Manley and the editorial team at Elsevier provide the link between editorial offices at Regions Hospital and Cooper University Medical Center.
